Bear Branch Intermediate, 5th Grade Math
Welcome to Bear Branch Intermediate! My name is Laura Evans and I am a 5th grade math teacher. I graduated from Sam Houston State University majoring in Education. I am married with four children, all who attended and graduated from MISD schools. I have been teaching in Magnolia for over 20 years and I am super excited to spend this year with you!
Origo Slate - There are 12 modules of math that we will learn this school year. We will spend about 2 - 3 weeks on each module. I will collect work and take formative/daily grades during those weeks. At the end of each module we will have a summative/test.
- Homework questions that reflect what we are currently learning in math class will be sent home the first day of the week (Monday, Tuesday if Monday is a holiday) and due on Friday of that same week. This homework will count in the grade book as a formative grade.
- Think Through Math on-line program. Students can log-in to their personal TTM account and complete the activities that are designed for them at their level. This is a district approved website that will enrich your child's math skills. They will have time to work on their TTM account in class, but will probably enjoy working at home as well. Their log-in information can be found in their math binder.
- Unfinished Classwork - any unfinished Origo math journal pages are homework and due the next day.
Tutoring/Extra Help/TTM: I am available on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 7:30 - 7:55 to answer questions, help with homework, have students work on Think Through Math and tutor.
